Indian Railways Introduces Special Summer Trains to Alleviate Passenger Congestion
In a strategic move to manage the seasonal surge in travel demand, Indian Railways has launched three special train services effective from Tuesday. These trains are designed to connect key routes between Maharashtra and Bihar, providing much-needed relief to passengers during the busy summer months.
Details of the New Train Services
According to Saraswati Chandra, the Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of the East Central Railway (ECR), the newly introduced services will operate on the following routes: Pune-Danapur, Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) Mumbai-Danapur, and Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Mumbai-Samastipur. These initiatives aim to streamline travel and reduce overcrowding on existing trains.
Schedule and Operational Periods
The Pune-Danapur special train will be operational until July 15. It departs from Pune at 3:30 PM and arrives at Danapur at 2:45 AM on the third day. For the return journey, the train leaves Danapur at 5:00 AM, reaching Pune the next day at 6:15 PM.
Similarly, the LTT Mumbai-Danapur service runs daily from Tuesday until July 15. This train departs from LTT Mumbai at 10:30 AM, arriving at Danapur the following day at 6:45 PM. On its return, it leaves Danapur at 9:30 PM and reaches LTT Mumbai on the third day at 3:45 AM.
Additionally, a weekly LTT Mumbai-Samastipur train has been introduced. It departs from LTT Mumbai every Tuesday at 12:15 PM, reaching Samastipur at 11:45 PM the next day via Danapur, Patliputra, and Hajipur. The return journey leaves Samastipur every Thursday at 3:00 AM, arriving at LTT Mumbai the next day at 4:25 PM.

These special trains are expected to significantly ease the passenger rush, offering convenient alternatives for travelers moving between Maharashtra and Bihar.
