Major Railway Upgrade: 12 Stations on Prayagraj-DDU Route Set for Transformation

Passengers traveling between Prayagraj Junction and Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay (DDU) Junction are poised to experience significantly improved amenities and reduced travel times as Indian Railways embarks on a comprehensive redevelopment initiative targeting 12 stations along this vital corridor. This ambitious project is being executed concurrently with the construction of a third railway line, a strategic move designed to bolster connectivity and facilitate train operations at speeds of up to 160 kilometers per hour.

Stations Identified for Comprehensive Redevelopment

The 12 stations slated for extensive upgrades include Bheerpur, Meja Road, Unchdeeh, Manda Road, Jigna, Gaipura, Birohi, Sipura, Pahara, Dagmagpur, Kailhat, and Narayanpur Bazar. Under the detailed redevelopment plan, each of these stations will receive entirely new station buildings equipped with modern facilities to enhance passenger comfort and convenience.

Key Infrastructure Enhancements Underway

A central component of this initiative is the construction of a dedicated new platform at every station specifically for the upcoming third railway line. To address congestion, especially during peak travel hours, the new station buildings will feature entry points from both sides, significantly improving accessibility and passenger flow.

Furthermore, Indian Railways is actively constructing new Foot Over Bridges (FOBs) at several locations along the route. At stations where FOBs already exist, these structures are being widened or comprehensively upgraded to ensure safer and more efficient movement of passengers across platforms.

Focus on Semi-High-Speed Operations

Railway officials have emphasized that the entire Prayagraj–DDU stretch is being systematically strengthened to support semi-high-speed train operations. This involves extensive track upgrades and a series of targeted infrastructure enhancements, which are already in progress across the corridor.

Demonstrating the project's forward momentum, Indian Railways has successfully completed the construction of new station buildings at Karchana and Mirzapur. Additionally, newly built Foot Over Bridges have been commissioned at both these locations, serving as early benchmarks for the ongoing redevelopment efforts.

This large-scale redevelopment project represents a significant investment in modernizing regional rail infrastructure, promising a faster, safer, and more comfortable travel experience for countless passengers on the Prayagraj-DDU route.
