Rajasthan Unveils Semiconductor Policy 2026 to Boost Global Tech Hub Status
Rajasthan Semiconductor Policy 2026 Aims for Global Tech Hub

Rajasthan Launches Ambitious Semiconductor Policy 2026 to Forge Global Tech Leadership

In a strategic move to elevate Rajasthan's position on the world stage, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma unveiled the Rajasthan Semiconductor Policy 2026 on Tuesday. This comprehensive initiative is designed to transform the state into a pivotal hub for the global semiconductor industry, driving substantial investment, generating high-skilled employment, and fostering cutting-edge innovation.

Policy Focus on Key Semiconductor Sectors and Ecosystem Development

Launched in January this year, the policy zeroes in on attracting significant investments in critical areas such as Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT), Assembly, Testing, Marking and Packaging (ATMP), and sensor manufacturing. By promoting domestic production, it aims to reduce reliance on imports and create a robust, self-sufficient semiconductor landscape.

Chief Minister Sharma emphasized that the policy envisions a complete semiconductor ecosystem, encompassing every stage from research and design to manufacturing, testing, and packaging. This holistic approach is expected to catalyze technological advancements and position Rajasthan as a leader in the sector.

Development of Semiconductor Hubs and Infrastructure Boost

To materialize this vision, the government has identified the Jodhpur-Pali-Marwar belt and the Kankani industrial area as prime locations for development into semiconductor hubs. These zones will benefit from fast-track infrastructure enhancements, including streamlined access to land, reliable power supply, ample water resources, and improved connectivity to facilitate seamless operations.

Additionally, the policy includes plans to establish dedicated semiconductor parks and strengthen the fabless design ecosystem, providing crucial support for innovation and nurturing startups in the field.

Lucrative Incentives to Attract Global and Domestic Investors

The Rajasthan Semiconductor Policy 2026 offers a suite of attractive incentives to lure investors:

  • 100% exemption on electricity duty for a period of seven years.
  • 75% rebate on stamp duty and land conversion charges.
  • 25% reimbursement on select operational costs to ease financial burdens.

Projects that gain approval under the India Semiconductor Mission will receive even more substantial benefits, including up to 60% capital subsidy and a 5% interest subsidy on term loans, making Rajasthan a highly competitive destination for semiconductor ventures.

Emphasis on Sustainability and Environmental Responsibility

In alignment with global trends, the policy places a strong emphasis on sustainability. It offers up to 50% reimbursement for environmental projects and provides incentives for the adoption of renewable energy sources. Eligible units can avail a full electricity duty exemption for seven years, encouraging eco-friendly practices within the semiconductor industry.

This forward-thinking approach not only aims to boost economic growth but also ensures that development is balanced with environmental stewardship, setting a benchmark for sustainable industrial policies in India.
