SC Upholds Baldota Group Land Acquisition for Koppal Steel Project

The Baldota Group announced on April 4 that the Supreme Court has upheld the land acquisition carried out by the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) for its integrated steel project in Koppal. In an official statement, the company described the verdict as a validation of the acquisition process, noting that the apex court found the entire acquisition to be lawful and in line with its intended industrial purpose.

Company's Response to the Verdict

Mahesh Mankare, senior manager (branding) at Baldota Group, issued a statement confirming that the group is the lawful custodian of the land and is responsible for its development, management, and safety. The statement emphasized that the project site houses an operational pellet plant, with continuous movement of trucks and around 800 personnel working at the facility, necessitating strict safety protocols.

Details of the Acquired Land

Referring to the project area, the statement said that the acquired land also includes the vicinity of Basapur lake. It maintained that the entire extent forms part of the legally acquired property, as upheld by the Supreme Court. The company cautioned that any unauthorised or forced entry into the premises would be treated as trespassing and could invite legal action under applicable laws.
