Skoda Auto India is gearing up to inject fresh energy into its popular compact SUV, the Kushaq. The model, which has been a cornerstone of the brand's success and the Volkswagen Group's ambitious India 2.0 strategy, is scheduled to receive a comprehensive facelift in January 2026. This update aims to bolster the SUV's appeal by making it more upmarket and technologically advanced while retaining its core mechanical identity.
What's New in the 2026 Skoda Kushaq Facelift?
The upcoming Kushaq will undergo significant visual and feature enhancements. The changes are designed to align the vehicle with Skoda's latest global design language and elevate the in-car experience for Indian customers, all without altering the proven powertrain options.
Exterior and Interior Overhaul
On the outside, the SUV will sport a completely refreshed look. The front end will be dominated by a new radiator grille and redesigned headlamps. The rear will get updated tail lights, a revised tailgate, and new bumpers at both ends. Completing the exterior makeover will be a set of new design alloy wheels.
Inside the cabin, the focus shifts to premium comfort and technology. The highlight will be the addition of a panoramic sunroof. The dashboard will house a new touchscreen infotainment system and a fully digital instrument cluster. For enhanced convenience and luxury, the facelifted Kushaq is expected to offer electrically adjustable and ventilated front seats. A 360-degree camera and an upgraded audio system will further refine the ownership experience.
Safety and Performance: The Trusted Formula Continues
Skoda will maintain its strong emphasis on safety. The facelifted model will continue to offer a robust package including six airbags, ABS with EBD, Electronic Stability Programme (ESP), traction control, hill hold control, and a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS).
Under the hood, the familiar and reliable engine options will carry over. Buyers can choose between the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol and the more powerful 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine. Transmission choices will remain the same: a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed automatic, and a 7-speed DSG (DCT) automatic gearbox.
Kushaq's Legacy and Strategic Importance
Since its first launch in 2021, the Skoda Kushaq has been a pivotal model. It successfully blended affordability with a premium feel, quickly becoming a favourite in India's fiercely competitive compact SUV segment. More importantly, it has been the lead product for the Volkswagen Group's India 2.0 project, which is spearheaded by Skoda. This facelift in early 2026 is a strategic move to sustain its momentum, refresh its appeal, and continue being a key revenue generator for the brand in one of the world's most critical automotive markets.
