Four Workers Sustain Minor Burns in Steam Leak Incident at Koradi Thermal Power Plant
Four maintenance workers suffered minor burn injuries on Wednesday after hot steam allegedly leaked from a pipeline at the Koradi Thermal Power Plant, located approximately 15 kilometers from Nagpur in Maharashtra.

The incident occurred while maintenance work was actively underway in the turbine section of a 660MW unit at the plant, which is operated by the Maharashtra State Power Generation Company (MahaGenco). According to sources familiar with the situation, a pipeline carrying high-temperature steam reportedly developed a leak, releasing a substantial amount of steam into the immediate area.
The workers who were conducting maintenance tasks nearby came into direct contact with the escaping steam. The four injured employees have been identified as:
- Ravindra Nandurkar, aged 50
- Vishal Kamble, aged 40
- Rahul Kelkar, aged 35
- Shailesh Meshram, aged 35
All four sustained minor burns on their hands and legs. They were promptly transported to the primary health centre located in the Koradi colony for urgent medical treatment. Sources indicate that two of the injured workers were discharged after receiving primary care, while the others were kept under observation as a precaution.

Senior officials and dedicated safety personnel from the power plant rushed to the site immediately after the incident was reported. As a precautionary measure to prevent any further accidents, all work in the affected section was temporarily halted.
