TAFE Sets New Annual Sales Record with 214,951 Units in FY26
Tractors and Farm Equipment (TAFE), India's second-largest tractor manufacturer, has announced its highest-ever total annual sales for the fiscal year 2026. The Chennai-based company reported sales of 214,951 units, representing a significant 23% increase compared to the 174,785 units sold in FY25.
Strong March Performance Outpaces Industry Growth
TAFE concluded FY26 on an exceptionally strong note, achieving 37.4% growth in March alone. This performance substantially exceeded the industry's overall expansion rate of 29% for the same month. The milestone follows closely on the heels of market leader Mahindra & Mahindra's announcement of record domestic tractor volumes exceeding half a million units, marking 24% growth for the fiscal year.
Both Brands Achieve Record Annual Sales
The company's two primary brands, Massey Ferguson and Eicher, both recorded their highest-ever annual sales figures during FY26. This dual-brand success underscores TAFE's strong market position and product acceptance across different customer segments.
Export figures showed a different trend, with TAFE reporting 12,584 units exported in FY26 compared to 14,905 units in FY25. These export numbers are included within the total sales volume of 214,951 units.
Favorable Conditions Drive Market Expansion
Lakshmi Venu, Vice-Chairman of TAFE, highlighted several factors contributing to the company's strong performance. "This has been a very positive year for both the tractor market and for farmers across the country," Venu stated. She specifically pointed to favorable monsoon patterns and GST rate reductions as key elements that provided substantial relief to the agricultural sector.
Venu also emphasized the growing trend of mechanization in rural India, noting an increasing number of first-time users entering the tractor market. "This marks a meaningful shift in access to mechanization for small farmers and will help improve farm productivity and incomes," she added.
Tractor Industry Reaches New Peak
The broader tractor industry is experiencing its strongest growth in recent years during FY26, surpassing earlier growth projections. Total domestic volumes have already crossed the significant milestone of over one million units during the first eleven months of the fiscal year.
This industry-wide expansion is being driven by a combination of favorable factors including supportive agricultural policies, improved rural incomes, and increasing recognition of mechanization's benefits for farm productivity. The record performances by both TAFE and Mahindra & Mahindra indicate robust health in India's agricultural machinery sector, with positive implications for rural economic development and food security.
