South Eastern Railway's Tatanagar Model Station to be Completed in Two and a Half Years
In a significant announcement for railway infrastructure development, South Eastern Railway (SER) General Manager Anil Kumar Mishra confirmed on Monday that the ambitious model railway station project at Tatanagar is scheduled for completion within two and a half years. The project, valued at Rs 350 crore, is being executed under the central government's Gati Shakti initiative, aimed at creating world-class transportation hubs across India.
Encroachment Removal and Utility Shifting Underway
Mishra detailed that preparatory work is currently in progress, with a focused drive to remove encroachments from railway land and shift utilities to facilitate construction. This clearance is essential for the seamless development of the state-of-the-art facility, which promises to enhance passenger experience and operational efficiency at one of Jharkhand's key railway junctions.
Multi-Disciplinary Divisional Institute Inaugurated in Bagbera
In a parallel development aimed at workforce enhancement, Mishra inaugurated the Multi-Disciplinary Divisional Institute (MDDI) at the abandoned railway school in Bagbera. This institute is set to play a pivotal role in skilling railway employees of the Chakradharpur division through comprehensive training programs.
The curriculum at MDDI will cover:
- Software engineering and data management
- Electrical, signalling, and telecommunication systems
- Technical training focused on railway safety protocols
Mishra emphasized that this initiative will significantly contribute to professional development and operational safety within the division.
Strategic Partnership with XLRI for Advanced Training
Further bolstering its human resource capabilities, South Eastern Railway has entered into a partnership with XLRI Jamshedpur for advanced training in human resources and management. Mishra highlighted that this collaboration is founded on advancing knowledge development and multi-discipline skilling of employees, ensuring they are equipped to meet modern railway challenges.
Tatanagar Yard Remodelling to Enhance Punctuality
Looking ahead, Mishra announced that the remodelling of the Tatanagar railway yard is expected to commence from May. This critical infrastructure upgrade is anticipated to improve the punctuality of both goods and passenger trains, addressing long-standing operational bottlenecks and boosting overall service reliability.
Clarification on Vendor Rehabilitation Responsibilities
Addressing concerns related to the ongoing encroachment removal, Mishra clarified that the rehabilitation of vendors whose illegal shops are being dismantled from railway land in Tatanagar is not the responsibility of the railways. Instead, he stated that this duty falls under the purview of the state government, emphasizing the need for coordinated efforts between authorities to ensure a smooth transition for affected stakeholders.
These announcements underscore South Eastern Railway's commitment to infrastructure modernization and employee development, positioning Tatanagar as a model for future railway projects in the region.
