Toyota Kirloskar Motor Unveils Budget-Friendly Rumion E Variant
Toyota Kirloskar Motor has officially launched a new, more affordable variant for its popular Toyota Rumion MPV, significantly expanding its market reach. The newly introduced variant, designated as the E trim, comes with an ex-showroom price tag of Rs 9.56 lakh. This strategic pricing move makes the Rumion MPV a substantial Rs 95,000 more accessible to budget-conscious buyers, potentially boosting its competitiveness in the crowded multi-purpose vehicle segment.
Expanded Variant Lineup and Booking Details
With the addition of the E variant, the Toyota Rumion is now available in a total of four distinct trims: E, S, G, and V. This expanded lineup offers customers a wider range of options to suit different preferences and budgets. Prospective buyers can easily book this new variant through multiple channels, including online platforms or by visiting their nearest authorized Toyota dealership, ensuring convenience and accessibility.
Comprehensive Feature Set of the Rumion E Variant
The Rumion E variant is equipped with a host of practical and safety features designed to enhance the driving experience. Key exterior elements include halogen projector headlamps and LED tail lights, complemented by 15-inch steel wheel covers. Inside, the cabin boasts a dual-tone interior theme, all four power windows, and a tilt-adjustable steering wheel for added comfort.
Safety remains a top priority, with the variant offering six airbags, ABS with EBD, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), and hill hold assist. Additional convenience features include powered outside rearview mirrors (ORVMs), a manually adjustable inside rearview mirror (IRVM), and a basic entertainment system supporting Bluetooth, FM, and USB connectivity, complete with speakers. The front seat belts are height-adjustable, ensuring optimal safety for all occupants.
Customers can choose from five attractive colour options: Spunky Blue, Rustic Brown, Enticing Silver, Cafe White, and Iconic Grey, allowing for personalization to match individual tastes.
Powertrain Specifications and Limitations
Under the hood, the Toyota Rumion is powered by a reliable 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine. This engine delivers a respectable 103 horsepower and 139 Nm of torque, providing adequate performance for daily commutes and family trips. The transmission option for this entry-level E variant is limited to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
It is important to note that this base trim does not include an automatic gearbox or CNG power options, which may influence the purchasing decisions of buyers seeking these specific features. However, the focus on affordability and core functionality makes it an appealing choice for those prioritizing value.
Design and Comparison with Maruti Suzuki Ertiga
The Toyota Rumion is essentially a rebadged version of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, sharing many underlying components but with distinct design tweaks. At the front, the Rumion features a different grille and bumper design, with the grille drawing inspiration from the Toyota Innova Crysta. The lower bumper has been redesigned to include new fog lamp housings and a chrome strip around the radiator grille, giving it a unique identity.
On the sides, the MPV retains a similar profile to the Ertiga but is distinguished by differently styled dual-tone alloy wheels. The rear section sees minimal changes, primarily involving the replacement of the logo while keeping the bumper design unchanged. Inside, the dashboard layout and seating configuration mirror those of the Ertiga, with only badging differences and a similar colour scheme, ensuring familiarity for those acquainted with the Suzuki model.
This launch underscores Toyota's commitment to offering versatile and affordable mobility solutions in the Indian automotive market, catering to the growing demand for family-friendly vehicles without compromising on essential features and safety standards.
