Tragic Industrial Blast Claims Two Lives Near Palanpur
In a devastating industrial accident, two of the three workers who suffered severe burns in a fire triggered by an explosion at a castor oil extraction unit near Palanpur have succumbed to their injuries. The tragic incident occurred at a facility located near Kanodar village, sending shockwaves through the local community.
Victims Identified as Young Workers
The deceased have been identified as Vivek Ramdas (24) and Ravita, alias Anjali Paswan (21). Both young workers were rushed to Ahmedabad Civil Hospital following the accident but could not survive their extensive burn injuries. Another worker, Raja Lalanram Das (20), remains in critical condition at the same hospital, fighting for his life.
Police Investigation Points to Dust Explosion
Hasmukh Dhandhaliya, inspector at Palanpur Taluka police station, provided crucial details about the incident. "Preliminary investigation reveals that a dust cloud was formed and this led to explosion," Dhandhaliya stated. "There was a spark in the conveyor belt which triggered the fire. There was no short-circuit involved in this tragic incident."
Rapid Fire Spread Trapped Workers
The flames spread with alarming speed throughout the industrial unit, creating a deadly trap for the workers inside. Several employees suffered severe burn injuries as they struggled to escape the rapidly expanding inferno. The combination of combustible materials and the dust cloud created perfect conditions for the fire to intensify quickly.
Industrial Safety Concerns Raised
This tragic incident has raised serious questions about industrial safety protocols in such facilities. The castor oil extraction process involves materials that can create hazardous conditions if proper safety measures are not strictly followed. The formation of a dust cloud that led to the explosion highlights potential gaps in safety procedures that need immediate attention.
The local community and authorities are now grappling with the aftermath of this preventable tragedy, as families mourn their loved ones and the surviving worker continues his battle for recovery in Ahmedabad.
