Government Launches Strategic Summit in Udaipur to Transform Food Processing
The Union Ministry of Food Processing Industries kicked off a significant two-day Chintan Shivir in Udaipur on Monday. Minister Outlines Vision for Modern Food Sector
Union Minister for Food Processing Industries Chirag Paswan addressed the inaugural session with clear objectives. He underlined the government's strong commitment to building a modern, competitive and inclusive food processing sector. Paswan explained how this initiative aims to enhance farmer incomes directly. It also seeks to reduce post-harvest losses significantly.
The minister emphasized value addition promotion across the food chain. He highlighted large-scale employment generation as a key goal, especially for youth and women. Paswan stated that food processing will play a critical role in strengthening India's agricultural value chains. He pointed to expanded export potential and sustainable growth aligned with national priorities.

The inaugural session featured active participation from senior ministry leadership. Secretary Abhinav Joshi attended along with Special Secretary Nandita Gopal. Joint Secretary Devesh Deval also participated in the discussions. Other key dignitaries from both the ministry and industry joined the proceedings.

During the event, MoFPI released important publications highlighting technology-led transformation in food processing. These documents showcase success stories of start-up grant challenge winners. They also feature entrepreneurs supported by the National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management.
Officials explained that the Chintan Shivir serves as a crucial platform for deliberations. Participants will develop action-oriented and concrete strategies to enhance processing capacity nationwide. The discussions focus on improving ease of doing business in the sector. Infrastructure strengthening remains another priority area.
