UP Cabinet Approves Land Transfer for Agra Metro Corridor II

The Uttar Pradesh government has given its approval for the transfer of land required for the construction of Metro stations and a viaduct section under the Agra Metro rail project's corridor II. This corridor stretches from Agra Cantt to Kalindi Vihar.

Land Transfer Details

Following a state cabinet meeting, the Agra district administration proposed the transfer of 550 square meters of vacant nazul land located in village Chak Atwal, tehsil Sadar. The land is currently utilized as a parking area within the regional employment office. The proposal was forwarded through letters issued by the Agra district magistrate on November 18, 2025, and February 24, 2025.

The Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) had formally requested that the land be allotted and transferred free of cost to facilitate the development of Metro infrastructure along corridor II. After due consideration, the cabinet approved the transfer of the land to UPMRC at the prevailing circle rate, while granting full exemption from payment under specific terms and conditions.

Usage and Precedent

The acquired land will be used for the construction of Metro stations and the viaduct section of the corridor connecting Agra Cantt with Kalindi Vihar. An official source clarified that this transfer has been treated as an exceptional case and will not be considered a precedent for future land transfers or allotments.

This development marks a significant step forward for the Agra Metro project, which aims to enhance urban mobility in the historic city. The corridor II is expected to improve connectivity between key areas, reducing travel time and congestion.
