Uttar Pradesh Government and Industry Leaders Advocate for MSME and Women-Led Enterprise Expansion
In a significant move to bolster economic development, Uttar Pradesh government officials and industry representatives convened in Lucknow on Wednesday to stress the urgent need for greater awareness of government schemes, easier access to finance, and stronger institutional support. This collaborative effort aims to accelerate the growth of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and women-led businesses across the state.
Udyam Pragati Workshop: A Platform for Entrepreneurial Advancement
The remarks were delivered at the 'Udyam Pragati Workshop,' organized by the Uttar Pradesh State Chapter of the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry at PHD House in Lucknow. The event attracted a diverse audience, including MSME owners, women entrepreneurs, and representatives from key financial institutions such as NABARD, SIDBI, and Laghu Udyog Bharti. Participants engaged in discussions focused on overcoming barriers to business growth and leveraging existing resources effectively.
Speakers at the workshop highlighted that while numerous policy initiatives and financial schemes are already in place, their real-world impact hinges on how efficiently they reach and benefit entrepreneurs. Sunil Kumar, Joint Commissioner at the Directorate of Industries and Enterprise Promotion, underscored the critical role of government interventions in fostering an enabling environment for enterprise development. He emphasized that targeted support can drive innovation and job creation in the MSME sector.
Key Focus Areas: Capacity Building and Financial Access
Industry representatives placed strong emphasis on capacity building and skill development, particularly for women entrepreneurs and small-scale units. Kavita Nigam of PHDCCI pointed out that providing training and improved access to resources for women-led enterprises could significantly boost their economic participation and contribution to the state's economy. She advocated for tailored programs that address the unique challenges faced by female business owners.
Jay Kumar Gupta from SIDBI outlined various funding avenues available to entrepreneurs and urged them to utilize institutional finance and digital platforms to scale their operations. He stressed the importance of adopting modern financial tools to enhance competitiveness and sustainability in a rapidly evolving market.
Call for Enhanced Coordination and Sustainable Growth
PHDCCI Senior Regional Director Atul Srivastava called for stronger industry linkages and better coordination among all stakeholders, including government bodies, financial institutions, and business associations. He argued that a cohesive approach is essential to address the fragmented support systems that often hinder MSME growth.
The workshop centered on promoting the sustainable growth of MSMEs and cottage industries through improved policy awareness, robust institutional support, and expanded market access. During an interactive session, participants raised queries related to scheme implementation, credit accessibility, and expansion strategies, reflecting the practical challenges they encounter in their entrepreneurial journeys.
This initiative underscores Uttar Pradesh's commitment to fostering a vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem, with a special focus on empowering women and small businesses to drive economic progress and social development in the region.
