UPSIDA approves 4 logistics projects worth Rs 1,100 crore

In a significant push to bolster industrial infrastructure, the Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority (UPSIDA) has approved four major logistics and warehousing projects with a combined proposed investment of around Rs 1,100 crore. The approval was granted during a high-level review meeting held on Monday, where the projects were cleared for the issuance of unique identification codes, a crucial administrative step for their swift implementation.

Projects Span Key Districts

The newly approved ventures are set to be established across multiple districts, strengthening the state's supply chain network. The key proposals that received the nod include a project by OWM in Varanasi, another by RP & Sons in Moradabad, and two projects by AMT and Reciprocal in the state capital, Lucknow. The grant of unique IDs to these initiatives marks a formal move towards turning these proposals into reality on the ground.

Boosting Infrastructure and Employment

Officials highlighted that these projects are expected to play a pivotal role in enhancing modern logistics infrastructure within Uttar Pradesh. A major anticipated outcome is substantial employment generation, contributing to the state's socio-economic development. Collectively, the four projects represent a proposed capital investment of approximately Rs 1,100 crore.

This latest approval brings the total number of projects sanctioned under the Uttar Pradesh Warehousing and Logistics Policy-2022 and the PIP Policy to 45. The scale of this broader initiative is immense: these 45 projects are slated for development across 650 acres of land, involving a total proposed investment of about Rs 11,610 crore.

Vision of a Logistics Hub

The state government's clear objective is to position Uttar Pradesh as a premier 'logistics hub' in the country. The policy framework is designed to offer investors a conducive environment backed by robust and modern infrastructure.

Elaborating on the vision, Vijay Kiran Anand, Chief Executive Officer of UPSIDA, stated that the government's initiatives in the logistics and warehousing sector are injecting new momentum into the state's industrial trajectory. "UPSIDA is committed to translating the government's vision into reality on the ground," Anand said.

He emphasized that the approved projects will be crucial not just for expanding modern logistics infrastructure but also for promoting balanced regional development and job creation across various districts. "We are proactive not only in attracting investments but also in ensuring their effective implementation," Anand added, expressing confidence that the coming years will see even larger investments in the logistics sector, accelerating progress towards the goal of a USD 1 trillion economy for the state.
