Vadodara Railway Station Gets Major Infrastructure Boost with Platform 3 Extension
The engineering team at Western Railway's Vadodara Division has wrapped up a significant improvement project on line number 3 at Vadodara Railway Station. They successfully extended platform number 3 by 50 meters and carried out extensive track enhancements. This critical work took just 25 days to complete, thanks to a dedicated engineering block.
Addressing Waterlogging and Safety Issues
Persistent waterlogging on line 3 had created serious problems. It led to unhygienic conditions, frequent track circuit failures, and damaged sleepers. These issues disrupted train operations and raised significant safety concerns for passengers and staff.
To tackle the drainage problem head-on, the engineering crew installed a new 400-meter-long water hydrant pipeline. They also built a 300-meter central drain between lines 3 and 4. This new drain ensures effective removal of both surface and subsurface water. Additionally, workers repaired the existing 380-meter central drain and fitted it with cover screens.
Comprehensive Track Strengthening Work
The team performed deep screening over 790 meters of line 3. This process restores the ballast cushion, improves drainage, and removes fouled ballast. They replaced all damaged and defective sleepers to enhance overall track stability.
Anubhav Saxena, the public relations officer for Vadodara Division, explained the track improvements. "We rectified the track geometry to allow a permitted speed of 30 kmph," he said. "We corrected alignment, cant, gauge, and curve parameters to improve riding quality and ensure safer train operations."
Expected Benefits for Passengers and Operations
These comprehensive upgrades aim to deliver multiple benefits. Train punctuality should see noticeable improvement. Operational safety gets a significant boost. Passenger movement on the extended platform becomes smoother and more efficient.
The Vadodara Railway Station now stands better equipped to handle traffic. The infrastructure improvements directly address previous challenges while preparing for future demands. Passengers can look forward to more reliable and comfortable journeys through this important transportation hub.
