The company has officially confirmed that the new Volkswagen Taigun facelift will be unveiled on April 9, 2026. This announcement marks a key milestone for Volkswagen's strategy in India, as the Taigun has been a popular model in the competitive compact SUV segment since its introduction.
Updated Volkswagen Virtus Sedan Spied Testing on Indian Roads
Following the Taigun facelift, attention shifts to the updated Volkswagen Virtus sedan, which has been recently spied testing on Indian roads. First launched in 2022, the Virtus is now poised to receive its first mid-cycle update, signaling Volkswagen's commitment to refreshing its lineup and staying competitive in the sedan market.
The test mule of the Virtus was heavily camouflaged, effectively concealing most of the anticipated design changes. Despite the camouflage, observers noted that the overall silhouette and side profile of the sedan remain largely unchanged from the current model. However, significant design revisions are expected at the front and rear, which will likely give the Virtus a refreshed and modern appearance.
Exterior Design Updates and Expected Features
At the front, the updated Virtus is anticipated to feature a sleeker grille, complemented by new LED headlamps and LED daytime running lights (DRLs). There are strong indications that the sedan will incorporate connecting lamps on both ends, along with an illuminated Volkswagen logo, enhancing its visual appeal and brand presence. The side profile, including elements such as conventional door handles, body-coloured ORVMs, blacked-out B-pillars, roof rails, and a shark-fin antenna, is expected to continue unchanged, maintaining the model's familiar character lines.
However, the alloy wheel design might see an update, as the spied model also showcased all-wheel disc brakes, suggesting potential enhancements in both aesthetics and performance. At the rear, updates are likely to include a reworked boot lid and slimmer tail-lamp housing, along with other subtle styling enhancements that will refine the sedan's overall look.
Interior and Mechanical Upgrades
Moving inside the cabin, changes are expected to be minimal, primarily focused on updated upholstery to improve comfort and aesthetics. Notably, similar to the Kushaq model, Volkswagen is anticipated to introduce an 8-speed torque-converter automatic transmission for the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine. This upgrade would replace the earlier 6-speed unit, potentially offering smoother gear shifts and improved fuel efficiency. Another engine option is a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, turbo petrol unit, which should continue to deliver robust performance.
