Western Railway Retains Top Spot in Non-Fare Revenue for Second Consecutive Year

In a significant achievement, Western Railway has once again secured the leading position across Indian Railways in generating non-fare revenue (NFR) for the second year in a row. This accomplishment underscores the railway zone's innovative strategies and effective commercial management.

Rajkot and Bhavnagar Divisions Drive Revenue Success

The Rajkot division played a pivotal role in this success, contributing an impressive Rs 4.01 crore to the non-fare revenue during the 2024-25 financial year. Under the leadership of senior divisional commercial manager Sunil Kumar Meena, the division implemented several forward-thinking initiatives. These included installing LED TVs to display train information, establishing a gaming zone, developing parking facilities outside station premises, opening a canteen at the goods shed, and placing hoardings and flex boards within station areas.

Similarly, the Bhavnagar division made a substantial contribution of Rs 3.89 crore in the same period. Senior divisional commercial manager Atul Kumar Tripathi highlighted that the division boosted its revenue through various measures. Key initiatives involved securing contracts for a gaming zone at Junagadh station, operating canteens at the DRM office and divisional railway hospital, and providing amenities such as retiring rooms, waiting halls, and a cloak room at Veraval station.

Recognition Ceremony Honors Key Contributors

To acknowledge the efforts of the officers and staff who were instrumental in this achievement, a felicitation ceremony was held on Wednesday at the Western Railway headquarters in Churchgate. The commercial department of the Rajkot division received special honors for its outstanding performance under Sunil Kumar Meena's guidance. This recognition not only celebrates their success but also sets a benchmark for other divisions to emulate in enhancing non-fare revenue streams.
