This announcement comes after the successful completion of crucial overnight operational works that were strategically scheduled to minimize disruption to the daily travel routines of thousands of passengers.
Details of the Overnight Maintenance Operations
The railway authorities executed two significant maintenance blocks during the late-night and early-morning hours. The first block was implemented on the fast lines between Borivali and Bhayandar, operational from 12:15 AM to 3:45 AM. Concurrently, a major block was taken on all lines at Prabhadevi railway station to facilitate the de-launching of a girder for the Prabhadevi Road Over Bridge. This extensive block at Prabhadevi was in effect from 1:30 AM to 6:00 AM.
Impact on Train Services During the Blocks
During the Borivali–Bhayandar block, all fast line trains were rerouted to run on the slow line between Virar/Vasai Road and Borivali, ensuring continuous service with minimal inconvenience. The block at Prabhadevi station, however, necessitated more substantial adjustments to the suburban service schedule.
Key service alterations included:
- Cancellation, short-termination, or reversal of some suburban services from Dadar and Bandra.
- Complete suspension of suburban train operations between Churchgate and Prabhadevi station.
- Temporary halt of services at Matunga Road and Mahim railway stations throughout the block period.
