YEIDA Initiates Development of Major Electronics Manufacturing Hub Near Noida Airport
The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has officially commenced the development of a significant Electronic Manufacturing Cluster (EMC) in Sector 10, strategically located near the upcoming Noida International Airport. This move marks a pivotal step in enhancing the region's industrial landscape, with the authority issuing an e-tender to select a developer for the ambitious project.
Project Overview and Strategic Importance
The proposed cluster, valued at Rs 339 crore, is designed to establish an integrated ecosystem for electronics manufacturing. It aims to cater to a diverse range of sectors, including:
- Automotive Electronics: This will encompass critical components such as sensors, control units, and advanced in-vehicle infotainment systems, supporting the growing automotive industry in the region.
- Industrial Electronics: The cluster will facilitate the production of automation systems, control panels, and power equipment, essential for modern industrial operations.
- Consumer Electronics: Manufacturing of popular products like smartphones, televisions, and home appliances is expected to be a key focus, aligning with India's push for domestic production.
- Medical Electronics: The ecosystem will also include diagnostic equipment, monitoring systems, and therapeutic devices, contributing to advancements in healthcare technology.
This initiative is part of a broader strategy to strengthen the electronics manufacturing ecosystem in the area, following the central government's approval last year for the cluster's development across 206 acres along the Yamuna Expressway.
Infrastructure Development and Tender Details
The selected developer will be responsible for constructing comprehensive core infrastructure to support the cluster's operations. Key components of the development include:
- Industrial buildings and common facilities to house manufacturing units.
- Internal road networks and utility systems for seamless connectivity.
- Water supply and drainage systems, along with sewerage and public health engineering works.
- Electrical infrastructure, including substations, to ensure reliable power supply.
- Fire-fighting systems and other essential support facilities for industrial safety and efficiency.
The tender process was initiated last week, with online bids being accepted until March 10. The infrastructure development is projected to be completed within an 18-month timeframe, paving the way for operational readiness.
Economic and Regional Impact
This project is expected to significantly boost local employment and attract investments in the electronics sector. By creating a dedicated hub near the Noida International Airport, YEIDA aims to leverage logistical advantages and foster innovation in electronics manufacturing. The cluster's proximity to key transportation routes and upcoming airport facilities is anticipated to enhance its appeal to both domestic and international manufacturers.
The development aligns with national initiatives to promote self-reliance in electronics production and reduce import dependency, positioning the Noida region as a critical player in India's industrial growth story.
