In a decisive move against civic violations, the North West Zone of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) carried out multiple enforcement actions on Friday. The crackdown targeted illegal constructions, encroachments, and safety lapses across several upscale areas of the city.
Illegal Paying Guest Accommodations Sealed in Thaltej
The civic body took strict action in the upscale Sterling Society located in Thaltej. Three houses operating as illegal paying guest (PG) accommodations were sealed by the authorities. This action underscores the AMC's ongoing drive against unauthorized commercial activities within residential premises, which often lead to congestion and infrastructure strain.
Encroachment Removal and Builder Penalty
Simultaneously, the corporation's team addressed land misuse in other wards. Encroachments were cleared from a reserved plot in the Gota ward, following which the AMC officially took possession of the land. In a separate incident in Chandlodia, a builder was slapped with a hefty fine of Rs 50,000. The penalties were imposed for illegally storing construction material on municipal land and for causing damage to the public footpath.
Safety Lapses Lead to Fines in Bodakdev
The AMC's vigilance extended to environmental and safety norms at construction sites. In Bodakdev, officials inspected a construction project and found it lacking mandatory safety measures. The site was fined Rs 25,000 for failing to install the necessary safety nets, which are crucial for dust control and environmental protection as per civic regulations.
These coordinated actions highlight the municipal corporation's intensified focus on enforcing urban planning laws and maintaining civic order. The fines and sealing orders serve as a strong warning to those flouting building norms and illegally using residential properties for commercial purposes. The AMC has signaled that such drives will continue across various zones to ensure compliance with city regulations.
