Building inspectors have closed down a prominent nightlife venue linked to rapper Badshah following a string of severe zoning and construction violations. The Chandigarh estate office sealed the 'Sago by Badshah' club in Sector 26 on Tuesday after its management repeatedly ignored official warnings to demolish extensive illegal extensions.
The closure follows a multi-agency raid by building and enforcement wings, which uncovered unauthorised structures spanning nearly every level of the property. Enforcement records suggest that a show-cause notice first issued two years ago detailed a catalog of illegal alterations.
Extensive Violations Found
Inspectors discovered unauthorised basement cabins, internal partitions, unapproved kitchens, and a commercial cold storage unit. The management had also covered open-air courtyards with steel frames and fibre sheeting, erected unpermitted tin storage sheds, and altered the building's rear facade without municipal approval.
Legal Action Initiated
The sub-divisional magistrate ordered the immediate closure of the premises after the venue blew past multiple deadlines to restore the building to its sanctioned blueprint. The Chandigarh administration has initiated formal prosecution against the property owners under local development and land regulation laws.
The action underscores the municipal corporation's crackdown on commercial establishments flouting building norms in the city. Authorities have warned that similar inspections will continue across other sectors to ensure compliance with zoning regulations.
