LTI Mindtree's Rs 2,000 Cr Bengal Silicon Valley Campus to Create 25,000 IT Jobs
Bengal IT Minister Reviews LTI Mindtree's Silicon Valley Project

In a significant move to bolster the state's technology infrastructure, West Bengal's IT Minister Babul Supriyo conducted a review visit to the sprawling LTI Mindtree project site at the Bengal Silicon Valley (BSV) in New Town, Kolkata, on Thursday. The minister assessed the construction progress of this flagship IT hub, which is poised to become a central pillar of Kolkata's next wave of IT-driven economic growth.

Massive Scale and Phased Development

The project, being developed on an 18.92-acre plot (SV-31) originally allotted to L&T Infotech, is now under the banner of LTI Mindtree following the merger of the two entities. The vision entails building a large-scale IT campus featuring six office towers to be constructed in multiple phases. The total investment is pegged at nearly Rs 2,000 crore, with a built-up area estimated at around 3.7 lakh square feet.

Officials reported that Phase I, which includes two towers, is advancing steadily. Based on the current pace of construction and visible on-ground progress, this initial phase is slated for completion by April 2026. Once operational, it is projected to house approximately 7,000 IT professionals.

Employment Generation and Future Timeline

Phase II, also comprising two towers, is scheduled to commence shortly with a target completion date of April 2027. The full development of all phases is expected to be a game-changer for employment in the region, with the capacity to provide jobs for nearly 25,000 IT professionals. This scale firmly positions the Bengal Silicon Valley as a premier IT and technology employment hub in Eastern India.

A Sustainable and Modern Workspace

Designed with contemporary and sustainable campus planning principles, the project aims to create a high-density yet green and people-centric work environment. Key design features include:

  • Landscaped open spaces to promote a natural setting.
  • Integrated pedestrian zones for easy and safe movement.
  • Modern glass-façade office towers that define a new architectural standard for the area.

Current site photographs indicate consistent progress in both structural work and façade development, aligning with the vision of a world-class IT campus.

Minister Babul Supriyo's inspection underscores the state government's focus on the project, which officials believe will significantly reshape Kolkata's IT landscape by attracting large-scale investments and generating high-quality employment. The Bengal Silicon Valley is being developed as a key driver to accelerate the region's digital economy and solidify its status as a competitive destination for global IT firms.
