Gaya Railway Station Redevelopment: 45-Day Block Alters Train Routes
Gaya Station Block: Train Routes Changed for 45 Days

Gaya Railway Station Undergoes Major Redevelopment, Triggering 45-Day Operational Block

A significant redevelopment initiative at Gaya railway station has necessitated a 45-day operational block, leading to substantial modifications in train routes and schedules across the region. The block, officially sanctioned from February 5 to March 21, 2024, aims to enhance passenger amenities and execute extensive construction activities on platforms 2 and 3 within the Deen Dayal Upadhyay division.

Impact on Train Operations and Route Diversions

During this prolonged period, numerous trains traversing the Lucknow division will experience altered operational patterns, including route diversions as well as short termination and origination points. One of the key changes involves the Buddha Purnima express, with train numbers 14223 and 14224, which will now operate on a diverted route from Rajgir to Varanasi junction, passing through Patna junction and Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya junction.

Specific Train Adjustments and Schedule Modifications

Several services will face short termination and origination at Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya junction, significantly affecting passenger travel plans. For instance, train 14259 Ekta express, which typically runs via Maa Belha Devi Dham Pratapgarh junction, will terminate early at PDDU junction. Its corresponding return service, train 14260, will originate from PDDU junction instead of its usual starting point, with this adjustment in effect from February 7 to March 21.

Similarly, train 14261 and 14262 Ekta express, operating via Sultanpur, will also undergo short termination and origination at PDDU junction throughout the block duration. Senior divisional commercial manager Kuldeep Tiwari confirmed these alterations, emphasizing the necessity of the redevelopment work for improving railway infrastructure and passenger experience.

Broader Implications for Commuters and Railway Services

The extensive construction and upgrade efforts at Gaya station are part of a larger initiative to modernize railway facilities, but they temporarily disrupt normal services. Passengers are advised to check updated schedules and plan their journeys accordingly to avoid inconveniences. The railway authorities have implemented these changes to ensure minimal disruption while prioritizing long-term benefits from the redevelopment project.
