Greater Noida Authority Intensifies Crackdown on Illegal Constructions

In a significant enforcement action, the Greater Noida Authority on Saturday sealed nine shops constructed on disputed land in Shahberi and removed encroachments from approximately 5,000 square meters of government land in Amarpur. This marks the seventh major anti-encroachment drive conducted by the authority within the past seventeen days, demonstrating a sustained campaign against unauthorized development.

Widespread Land Reclamation Efforts Across Multiple Villages

Prior to Saturday's operations, the authority had already reclaimed more than 54,000 square meters of encroached land across five villages since January 20. The targeted villages included Kheda Choganpur, Bhanota, Haibatpur, Chipiyana Khurd, and Rohillapur. Officials emphasized that these actions are part of a broader initiative to curb illegal construction activities, particularly in areas where violations have surged in recent months.

The shops in Shahberi were found to be built without proper approvals on land where commercial activity is strictly prohibited. After thorough verification of land records and land use regulations, the authority proceeded to seal all nine units. This decisive move underscores the authority's commitment to enforcing zoning laws and preventing unauthorized commercial establishments.

Coordinated Operation in Amarpur with Police Support

In a parallel operation in Amarpur, encroachments were cleared with the active support of local police and district administration officials. The situation had escalated due to attempts by some local residents to illegally occupy government land, leading to disputes between two groups in the village. The authority's intervention successfully resolved the conflict and reclaimed the land, which is estimated to be valued at around Rs 10 crore.

To prevent future encroachment attempts, the reclaimed land in Amarpur will now be securely fenced and monitored. This proactive measure aims to safeguard government property and maintain order in the area.

Ongoing Enforcement Campaign with Environmental Focus

The latest actions are integral to a larger enforcement campaign launched by the Greater Noida Authority in the second half of January. Officials stated that the operations are specifically designed to check illegal construction and unauthorized plotting, including in environmentally sensitive zones along the Hindon floodplain where construction is heavily restricted.

This comprehensive drive reflects the authority's determination to address land misuse and promote sustainable urban development in the region.
