According to representatives from the homebuyers' group, bookings for the project, named Aashiyara, began in 2018. The project falls under the state's affordable housing policy. Buyers state they paid the entire cost of their flats more than three years ago.

On Sunday, these homebuyers organized a protest to highlight their grievances. They expressed deep frustration over the stalled construction work.

Construction at a Standstill

A substantial portion of the construction remains unfinished. Site activity has reportedly come to a complete halt over the past year. This lack of progress has alarmed the allottees.

Official Acknowledgment and Inspection

Officials from the town and country planning department confirm receiving multiple complaints about the project's non-completion. The department conducted an inspection of the site after representations from the allottees.

Internal communications reveal that construction was found incomplete during this inspection. The matter has now been escalated to higher authorities for further directions and a resolution.

Approval Status and Pending Work

Documents show the project received necessary approvals under the Affordable Group Housing Policy. The developer applied for an occupation certificate in 2024.

However, inspection reports noted that finishing work in several towers was still pending. Officials observed minimal labour presence at the site during their visit, indicating little to no ongoing activity.

Financial Strain on Families

Goutam Kumar Maiti, president of the buyer's association, highlighted the repeated changes in the proposed completion timeline. He stated that assurances given during meetings with officials have not resulted in visible progress on the ground.

Many residents face severe financial strain. They continue to service home loans for the delayed property while simultaneously paying rent for their current accommodations. This double financial burden adds to their hardship.

Seeking Redressal and Enforcement

Authorities have advised the allottees to approach the real estate regulator for grievance redressal related to possession delays. The buyers' association has already submitted representations to multiple authorities.

These include the Department of Town and Country Planning and the real estate regulator. The submissions seek enforcement action and a clear, actionable roadmap for completing the project.

The association has called for strict monitoring of the project. They demand the immediate resumption of construction work without any further delay.

Official Response and Homebuyer Hopes

Officials state the matter remains under active review. They assure that further action will be taken in accordance with applicable rules and procedures.

Meanwhile, homebuyers express hope that regulatory intervention will finally bring relief. Hundreds of middle-income families await their homes, longing for a resolution to this long-pending issue.
