Gurgaon MCG Launches Rs 6.5 Crore Infrastructure Push in Sectors 42 & 43
Gurgaon MCG starts Rs 6.5 crore road, drainage works

The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) has kicked off a significant infrastructure development drive worth Rs 6.5 crore in key residential areas of the city. The work, concentrated in sectors 42 and 43, aims to address long-standing civic issues by strengthening road networks and overhauling the drainage system.

Details of the Approved Development Projects

The approved projects encompass a variety of crucial upgrades. In Sector 43, drainage work valued at Rs 1.1 crore has been sanctioned to enhance the rainwater drainage system and prevent waterlogging. For road construction, the Tulsi Park pocket will see new Reinforced Cement Concrete (RCC) roads built at a cost of Rs 1 crore.

Furthermore, the plan includes developing wide bitumen roads in Sector 43. These roads, measuring 18 and 24 metres in width, will be constructed with an estimated budget of Rs 1.7 crore. In the neighbouring Sector 42, new bitumen roads are set to be laid down at a cost of Rs 2.1 crore.

Public Support and Broader Development Vision

The initiative has garnered attention from local residents. A recent public meeting in Sector 43 saw participation from around 250 residents from sectors 27, 42, 43, and Sushant Lok A and B blocks, where the works were discussed.

Gurgaon MLA Mukesh Sharma provided a broader perspective, stating that while development works worth Rs 6.5 crore have begun in ward 22, additional projects worth nearly Rs 10 crore have also received approval and are currently in the tendering stage. He also highlighted major city-wide infrastructure approvals, including metro expansion, a 600-bed government hospital, and a modern bus stand.

Ward 22 councillor Vikas Yadav emphasized that priority is being given to improving roads, sewerage, drainage, cleanliness, and parks. He added that Rs 8.3 crore has been approved specifically for road works in Sushant Lok A and B Blocks, with the tender process already initiated.

Execution Challenges and Administrative Process

While the projects have received the necessary administrative approvals, officials noted that ongoing pollution curbs on construction activities are likely to cause some delays in their execution. The approvals followed a recent finance and contract committee meeting, where 28 major development works were proposed for various city wards, with 26 projects being granted the green light.

Residents have welcomed the commencement of these projects, expressing hope that the works will finally resolve persistent civic problems and lead to a substantial improvement in basic infrastructure and public amenities in their areas.
