Lucknow Green Corridor Phase 3 Moves Forward with Key Infrastructure Approvals
The Lucknow Development Authority has given the green light for significant upgrades in the third phase of the Green Corridor project. During a review meeting held on Tuesday, officials finalized plans for a new flyover and cloverleaf interchange at the crucial Shaheed Path-Green Corridor junction.
Traffic Flow to Remain Uninterrupted During Construction
LDA Vice-Chairperson Prathamesh Kumar, who chaired the meeting, emphasized that traffic movement will continue without disruption throughout the construction period. Shaheed Path, which carries substantial east-west traffic across the city, will remain open at all stages of the work. This commitment addresses concerns about potential congestion during infrastructure development.
Detailed Project Components and Connectivity
The approved flyover will create a direct connection between Gomti Nagar and Kisan Path as part of Phase 3. Officials confirmed that this structure forms a critical link in the broader corridor network. Additionally, the meeting reviewed traffic arrangements at three important rotaries:
- Samtamulak Rotary
- Nishatganj Rotary
- Hanuman Setu Rotary
Based on feedback from traffic police authorities, certain modifications received approval to better regulate vehicle movement once the corridor becomes operational.
Progress on Earlier Phases and Future Plans
Construction continues actively on Phase 2 components, which include:
- Bandha Road development
- A six-lane bridge
- A flyover structure
- A railway overbridge stretching from Pakka Pul to Samtamulak Chowk
Three newly constructed rotaries at Samtamulak, Nishatganj, and Hanuman Setu will serve essential roles in managing vehicular flow when the corridor opens to public use. These rotaries represent completed elements that will integrate with upcoming phases.
Vice-Chairperson Kumar outlined further developments, stating that Phases 3 and 4 encompass additional construction projects. These include a Bandha Road flyover and a bridge connecting Samtamulak Chowk to Kisan Path. A flyover near Ekana Stadium on Shaheed Path also forms part of these plans. Kumar reassured that all work on this stretch will proceed without halting traffic movement.
Comprehensive Review Meeting Participants
The Tuesday meeting brought together key stakeholders from multiple departments. Attendees included DCP (Traffic) Kamlesh Dixit, Chief Engineer Manvendra Singh, and PIU In-Charge AK Singh Sengar. Officials from other related departments also participated in the discussions, ensuring coordinated planning across agencies.
This collaborative approach aims to address both immediate construction challenges and long-term traffic management needs as Lucknow's infrastructure network expands.
