MHADA Mumbai Board Launches Major Housing Lottery for 2,640 Apartments
The Mumbai Board of the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) has officially announced a significant housing lottery for the sale of 2,640 apartments in Mumbai. This initiative aims to provide affordable housing options across various income groups in the city.
Application Process and Key Dates
The application process for this lottery commenced today, March 30, with online registration and form filling starting at 3:00 pm. This was inaugurated by MHADA vice president and CEO Sanjeev Jaiswal. Interested applicants must note the following critical deadlines:
- The last date for submitting online applications is April 29.
- Online acceptance of earnest money will conclude on April 30.
- Payment of earnest money via RTGS/NEFT can be made until banking hours on April 30.
- A provisional list of applications will be published on May 5, with the deadline for filing online claims and objections set for May 8.
- The final list of accepted applications will be released on May 12.
The lottery draw is scheduled for 11:00 am on May 15, marking a key event for prospective homebuyers.
Apartment Distribution and Locations
The 2,640 apartments are spread across 15 prime locations in Mumbai, including Kannamwar Nagar in Vikhroli, Patra Chawl in Siddharth Nagar Goregaon, Old Magathane in Borivli, Gorai Borivli, Subhash Nagar in Chembur, Gandhi Nagar in Bandra, Pant Nagar in Ghatkopar, Girgaum, Wadala, Kopri in Powai, Mazgaon, Tunga in Powai, Lokmanya Nagar in Dadar, Pahadi Goregaon, and Antop Hill Wadala.
These flats are categorized by income groups to ensure equitable access:
- 145 apartments for the Economically Weaker Section (EWS)
- 858 apartments for the Lower Income Group (LIG)
- 1,408 apartments for the Middle Income Group (MIG)
- 229 apartments for the Higher Income Group (HIG)
Sources of Apartments and Eligibility Criteria
The lottery includes a diverse mix of housing stock:
- 1,762 houses under construction by the Mumbai Board
- 371 flats received from developers under redevelopment projects under DCR 33(5)
- 188 apartments received from developers under redevelopment projects under DCR 33(7)
- 319 scattered apartments from various redevelopment projects under DCR 33(5), 33(7), and 58, which remained vacant from previous lotteries
To participate, applicants must meet specific eligibility requirements. They need a mobile number linked to Aadhaar and an email ID for registration. Required documents include an Aadhaar card, PAN card, domicile certificate of Maharashtra, and income proof.
Annual family income limits are strictly defined:
- Up to Rs 6 lakh for EWS
- Up to Rs 9 lakh for LIG
- Up to Rs 12 lakh for MIG
- More than Rs 12 lakh for HIG
