Mysuru Development Authority Unveils Major Land Monetization Plan

The Mysuru Development Authority (MDA) has announced an ambitious strategy to mobilize financial resources by auctioning its vacant land parcels. The urban body aims to generate approximately Rs 1,000 crore through an online auction of plots located across various layouts under its jurisdiction.

Comprehensive Auction Strategy to Fund Development

MDA plans to auction corner sites and plots of diverse measurements, including 20x30, 30x40, and 40x60 dimensions. This initiative is designed to secure funding for critical developmental projects while preventing encroachment by land sharks and ensuring optimal utilization of land assets.

Approximately 150 acres of land are available for auction in multiple developed layouts, such as:

  • Dattagalli, JP Nagar, and Devanuru

Addressing Revenue Shortfalls and Future Projects

The decision comes after MDA experienced significant revenue impacts due to the transfer of 700 developed layouts to other urban local bodies, including Hootagally CMC, Rammanahalli, Kadakola, Bogadhi, and Srirampura town panchayats. This transfer resulted in the loss of property fees and cess, creating financial constraints for the authority.

To overcome these challenges, MDA has outlined several future projects that will be funded through the auction proceeds:

  1. Development of new layouts at Bommenahalli
  2. Construction of group houses and apartments
  3. Development of the peripheral ring road (PRR)

Official Statements and Implementation Plans

MDA In-Charge Commissioner KR Rakshith confirmed that the authority plans to develop sites on its vacant plots, totaling about 150 acres. He emphasized that the developed sites will be auctioned online rather than through traditional application and allotment processes.

"We have worked out a plan to develop sites on approximately 150 to 200 acres of land available across the city," Rakshith stated. "By bidding these sites online after development, we aim to generate Rs 1,000 crore for our future projects."

The MDA has already written to the urban development department seeking permission to develop sites on its vacant plots to generate resources. Additionally, the authority has initiated measures for developing a new layout at Bommenahalli on a 50:50 ratio basis, with several landowners having signed agreements with MDA.

Rakshith assured that these sites will be allotted to applicants at affordable prices, ensuring accessibility while supporting the authority's financial sustainability and urban development goals.
