Officials in Noida have confirmed that the slip road on DSC Road will reopen within one week. This road provides direct access to the busy Bhangel market from the NSEZ side without using the Bhangel elevated road.
Long Detour Ends for Commuters
The slip road was closed earlier this year to decongest traffic in the area. However, this closure forced commuters to take a lengthy detour of four to five kilometers just to reach the market area. Many residents and traders expressed frustration about this extended travel route.
Vital Commercial Hub
The Bhangel-Salarpur market stands as one of the largest rural markets in Noida. It serves as a crucial commercial center attracting thousands of daily visitors. People from nearby sectors and villages regularly visit this market for shopping and business activities.
Political Intervention Brings Solution
Noida MLA Pankaj Singh directed officials to address the slip road issue following a meeting with the Noida Village Residents Association (NOVRA) delegation last week. This political intervention accelerated the decision to reopen the crucial access route.
Road Improvements Planned
Officials have outlined specific improvements for the 200-meter stretch of slip road:
- The road will be recarpeted and tarred for smoother travel
- It will be widened by five meters to accommodate more traffic
- Height barriers will be installed on both sides for safety
- Directional signs will guide traffic once the road reopens
NOVRA president Ranjan Tomar reported that Noida deputy general manager Vijay Rawal visited the site on Thursday. During this inspection, officials learned about the significant inconvenience faced by residents and traders due to the road closure.
"The inspection saw considerable turnout from local market vendors and residents," Tomar said. "Everyone wanted to see a resolution to the ongoing traffic challenges. Following the inspection, several key points were agreed upon, including reopening the road."
Traffic Management Plans
Regarding the work to be undertaken, the deputy general manager stated that coordination efforts will be made with traffic police. "We will ensure traffic police presence on the road to assist in managing traffic flow," he explained. "Deploying personnel there will help mitigate congestion effectively."
Community Welcomes Decision
Residents from neighboring sectors have welcomed the decision to reopen the slip road. They frequently visit the market and found the decreased accessibility created great inconvenience for everyone.
Sandeep Tyagi, president of the Bhangel Residents Welfare Association, emphasized the economic impact. "The closure of this road was causing heavy losses to common people and traders," he stated clearly.
Previous Road Conditions
Traders from Bhangel, Salarpur and Barola markets along DSC Road had previously expressed frustration about multiple issues. They reported deep potholes, stray cattle and encroachments on the stretch.
The road was originally dug up in 2020 when construction of the elevated corridor began. Although the flyover opened to the public in November last year, DSC Road remained largely unnavigable. This poor condition significantly hurt local businesses in the area.
The upcoming reopening promises to restore vital connectivity to one of Noida's most important commercial areas. Thousands of daily visitors will benefit from the improved access when the slip road becomes operational again next week.
