Residents of Patnem-Colomb in Canacona have escalated their protest against a major development project in their area, citing serious concerns over the legitimacy of the road access. The local community, led by their councillor, took their grievances directly to the district administration on Friday.

Accompanied by Councillor Shubham Komarpant, the residents met with Deputy Collector Prataprao Naik Gaonkar. The delegation formally handed over a memorandum outlining their primary demand: a joint inspection of the existing road that leads to the site of the proposed mega project.
The core allegation put forth by the locals is that the project clearance was granted based on a controversial certification regarding the width of the access road. They argue that the actual measurements do not comply with the requirements, and the approval process was flawed.
Residents Voice Frustration and Issue Warning
During the meeting, resident Anil Faldesai expressed deep frustration, stating that the authorities have consistently turned a Nelson's eye to their legitimate concerns. This phrase underscores their belief that their pleas have been deliberately ignored.
Echoing the sentiment of urgency, another resident, Vaibhav Faldesai, issued a stern warning.
