Pistols Recovered in PMJ Jewellery Robbery Case

Hyderabad: In a significant breakthrough, the Karimnagar police have recovered two pistols used by the three accused allegedly involved in the PMJ jewellery robbery case. The recovery was made during the custodial interrogation of the trio.

Details of the Robbery

On May 3, five individuals entered the PMJ jewellery store posing as customers. They opened fire at the staff and fled with 1.61 kilograms of gold and 112 carats of diamonds. So far, the police have arrested six persons in connection with the case.

Confession and Recovery

According to police officials, the two shooters — Raghunath Karmakar and Ravish Kumar — reportedly confessed that the weapons were hidden in bushes near the Velichala bypass after the robbery. During scene reconstruction, the accused were taken to the spot, where the pistols were found and subsequently seized.

Apart from Raghunath and Ravish, the prime conspirator, Subodh Singh from Bihar, was also questioned by the police during the four-day custodial interrogation. Subodh Singh was earlier brought to Telangana on a prison transit warrant. The police also recovered a mobile phone abandoned by the accused at Madhanur village in Dharmapuri.

Investigation Updates

Police claimed that Subodh Singh was non-cooperative during questioning. When statements of each accused were corroborated, inconsistencies were found. Police also revealed that another wanted accused, Amar Singh, was caught in West Bengal and is being brought to Karimnagar. Amar reportedly paid money to the shooters at the behest of Subodh Singh.

The police intend to approach the court again to seek further custody of the accused. Subodh Singh has denied any role in the PMJ jewellery robbery.
