Prayagraj Development Authority Unveils Major Urban Expansion Plan
The Prayagraj Development Authority (PDA) has taken a significant step towards urban growth by earmarking approximately 375 hectares of land in the Jhunsi and Hetapatti areas for the development of large-scale residential and commercial properties. This ambitious initiative is part of the chief minister urban expansion scheme, aimed at addressing the city's increasing demand for planned infrastructure.
Detailed Land Allocation and Acquisition Process
According to officials from the civic body, the land allocation is split between two key locations. In Jhunsi, around 250 hectares have been identified, encompassing the villages of Mukundpur, Chakia Hinauta, and Chak Hinauta. This acquisition will involve land from over 500 cultivators, marking a substantial effort to secure space for future development.
In Hetapatti, an additional 125 hectares have been designated, spread across Neemarmee Khurd, Narayanpur, and an adjoining village. The PDA has emphasized that the land acquisition process will be conducted with transparency and fairness, focusing on farmer cooperation and compensation.
Compensation and Farmer Engagement
Vice-chairman Rishiraj of the civic body conducted site inspections on Thursday to personally apprise farmers of the compensation structure. He stated, "The authority has intensified work to bring the urban expansion plan to the ground level. The project is expected to benefit the city by providing planned residential and commercial spaces to meet the growing demand."
Officials noted that while many cultivators have shown interest in cooperating, some have raised concerns. To address this, the PDA plans to educate reluctant farmers about the project's benefits. A key incentive is the compensation offer: those who provide their land will receive compensation at four times the prevailing circle rate, ensuring a fair deal for all parties involved.
Project Investment and Implementation Timeline
The estimated investment for these two housing schemes is Rs 2,500 crore, highlighting the scale and importance of this urban development effort. PDA secretary Ajit Singh and zonal officer Suraj Kumar Patel have assured that land acquisition proceedings will be expedited with farmers' cooperation, aiming to minimize delays and foster a collaborative environment.
This project is poised to transform Prayagraj's landscape, offering new opportunities for residential and commercial growth while supporting the city's expansion in a structured and sustainable manner.
