Bengaluru Metro Takes Safety Leap with Platform Screen Doors

The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited has initiated a significant safety upgrade by commencing work on Bengaluru's first-ever platform screen doors. This development marks a crucial milestone in the ongoing expansion of the Namma Metro network, particularly along the highly anticipated Pink Line corridor.

Pink Line Progress Reaches Critical Phase

With civil construction work approaching completion on the 21.26-kilometer Kalena Agrahara to Nagawara Pink Line corridor, BMRCL has shifted focus to critical systems installation. The corporation is currently engaged in comprehensive track-laying operations alongside the implementation of various essential systems, including the much-awaited platform screen doors at station locations.

The installation work, which began in late November 2025, represents a transformative step in enhancing passenger safety and operational efficiency across Bengaluru's metro network. Platform screen doors serve as protective barriers between the station platform and the railway tracks, preventing accidental falls and unauthorized access to the track area.

Comprehensive Systems Integration Underway

According to recent updates, the metro authority is executing multiple parallel operations to ensure timely completion of the Pink Line project. The track-laying process is progressing simultaneously with the installation of various operational systems that are essential for metro services.

The platform screen doors installation forms part of this integrated systems approach, which includes signaling, communication, and other safety mechanisms. This coordinated effort demonstrates BMRCL's commitment to implementing international safety standards while expanding Bengaluru's urban transit infrastructure.

The Pink Line corridor, stretching across key areas of the city, is expected to significantly improve connectivity for Bengaluru residents when operational. The introduction of platform screen doors will place Namma Metro among the modern metro systems in India that prioritize passenger safety through advanced technological solutions.
