The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has announced a temporary water supply disruption affecting multiple wards in Mumbai. This disruption will occur from January 20 to January 22, 2024.
Affected Areas and Schedule
Residents in several BMC wards should prepare for changes in their water supply. The affected wards include G North, K-East, S, H-East, and N ward. The pipeline connection work will cause low water pressure and altered supply timings in these areas.
Work Details and Impact
BMC crews will carry out cross-connection work on a diverted section of the 2400 mm diameter Upper Vaitarna main water pipeline. This diversion is necessary for the ongoing Metro Line 7A project. The work will start at 9 am on January 20 and continue until 5 am on January 22.
During this period, water supply will face significant disruptions. Some areas will experience complete shutdowns, while others will have reduced pressure. The regular water supply timings will also change across the affected wards.
Precautionary Measures for Residents
BMC has issued important advisories for citizens in the affected areas. Residents should take the following precautions:
- Store sufficient water for essential needs before the work begins
- Use water sparingly during the repair period
- Boil and filter drinking water for the next few days as a safety measure
The municipal corporation emphasizes that these measures will help minimize inconvenience during the essential infrastructure work. Residents should plan accordingly and follow the guidelines to ensure adequate water availability.
