Minister Anil inaugurated the recently renovated Pothencode–Mangalapuram road, which forms a crucial segment of the larger Pazhakutti–Mangalapuram corridor. This upgrade marks a substantial step forward in the state's efforts to modernize its transportation network.
Financial Allocation and Project Details
According to the minister, the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB) has sanctioned Rs 170 crore specifically for widening and modernizing the 20-kilometer road from Pazhakutti to Mangalapuram. The construction work has been strategically divided into three distinct reaches to ensure efficient execution.
Out of this allocated amount, Rs 67.63 crore has been utilized for upgrading the 7-kilometer Pothencode–Mangalapuram stretch. This investment underscores the government's commitment to enhancing road infrastructure in the region.
Current Progress and Land Acquisition Status
The first reach of the project, extending from Pazhakutti to Mukkampalamoodu, is reportedly nearing completion. This progress indicates that the initial phase of the infrastructure development is on track.
Meanwhile, land acquisition for the second reach, which extends up to Pothencode, has achieved 80% completion. This milestone is crucial for the seamless continuation of the project and reflects the ongoing efforts to address logistical challenges.
The Vazhayila–Pazhakutti four-lane road project represents a transformative endeavor for Thiruvananthapuram, promising to facilitate smoother transportation and bolster economic activities in the area. As the project advances, it is expected to significantly reduce travel time and improve accessibility for residents and businesses alike.
