Four Trains to Terminate at Adityapur Station from February 5
In a significant move to decongest Tatanagar railway station, the Chakradharpur railway division of South Eastern Railways (SER) has announced that four trains, including two express services, will now terminate at Adityapur railway station. This new arrangement is set to become effective from February 5, 2025, as confirmed in an official statement released on Friday.
Reducing Load at Tatanagar Station
Officials from the Chakradharpur railway division explained that this strategic shift is primarily aimed at reducing the load of train movement at Tatanagar railway station. Tatanagar is currently undergoing development as a model station, and the increased traffic has posed challenges to its efficient operation. By redirecting certain trains to Adityapur, the railways hope to streamline operations and enhance passenger experience at both locations.
Plans are underway to develop Adityapur as a terminal station for Tatanagar, marking a long-term solution to manage rail traffic in the region. As part of the preparatory measures, the Tatanagar-Hatia-Tatanagar Memu service was successfully operated from Adityapur for a month in 2025, testing the feasibility of this new setup.
Details of the Train Changes
The SER notification outlines the specific changes to train services:
- The 68035/36 Hatia-Adityapur-Hatia Memu will terminate at Adityapur station starting February 5.
- The 13301/2 Dhanbad-Adityapur-Dhanbad Subarnarekha Express will also terminate at Adityapur from the same date.
- The 13511/12 Adityapur–Asansol-Adityapur Express, which operates tri-weekly, will begin terminating at Adityapur from February 6.
- The 20815/16 Visakhapatnam–Tatanagar Express will commence its journey and terminate at Adityapur station on March 29 and March 30, respectively.
This reorganisation is expected to not only alleviate congestion at Tatanagar but also boost infrastructure and services at Adityapur, supporting the broader goal of developing it as a key railway terminal in the area.
