Jazeera Airways Suspends Services to Nine Indian Cities for Over a Month
Jazeera Airways has announced the suspension of its services to nine Indian cities, citing operational reasons. The changes are set to take effect from April 10, with flights remaining cancelled until May 15. This move impacts key destinations across India, disrupting travel plans for many passengers.
Affected Cities and Flight Details
The airline confirmed that flights to and from the following cities will be halted:
- Coimbatore
- Goa
- Kannur
- Kozhikode
- Lucknow
- Madurai
- Mangaluru
- Tiruchirappalli
- Vijayawada
This suspension spans over a month, affecting both inbound and outbound routes from these locations. Passengers with bookings during this period are advised to seek alternatives or process refunds as per the airline's guidelines.
Refund and Compensation Policies
Passengers affected by the cancellations will be offered full refunds. However, the refund process varies based on the booking method:
- For direct bookings made through the airline's website or app, refunds can be processed through the same platforms, ensuring a straightforward and timely resolution.
- For tickets booked through travel agents, passengers will receive the refund amount in the form of a credit shell. This credit can be used for future bookings with Jazeera Airways, providing flexibility for rescheduled travel plans.
The airline emphasizes its commitment to minimizing inconvenience, with clear communication channels established for affected customers to facilitate smooth refund processing.
Official Statement from Jazeera Airways
Barathan Pasupathi, Chief Executive Officer of Jazeera Airways, acknowledged the disruption and expressed regret for the inconvenience caused. In a statement, he said, "We sincerely apologise to our customers for the inconvenience caused by this cancellation. These decisions are never taken lightly and are driven by operational circumstances beyond our control."
He further clarified that despite the temporary suspension to these nine cities, the airline continues to operate services to eight other Indian destinations from its operational base in Dammam. "Our commitment remains unwavering. We continue to serve our eight destinations in India through our operational base in Dammam, supported by nearly all our resources to maintain connectivity and service quality," Pasupathi added.
Operational Context and Future Outlook
The suspension is attributed to operational challenges, though specific details were not disclosed. Industry analysts suggest that factors such as fleet management, route optimization, or external regulatory issues might have influenced this decision. Jazeera Airways reassures passengers that the move is temporary and aims to resume services post-May 15, pending operational assessments.
For now, travelers are encouraged to monitor official updates from the airline and explore alternative travel options if necessary. The airline's ongoing operations to other Indian cities indicate a continued presence in the market, with potential for expanded services once the suspension is lifted.
