Jharkhand's Historic Debut at Davos: CM Hemant Soren Leads Investment Push
Jharkhand's First-Ever Delegation to World Economic Forum in Davos

In a landmark move for the state, Jharkhand is set to make its inaugural appearance at the prestigious World Economic Forum annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland. Chief Minister Hemant Soren will personally lead the delegation to the global summit, scheduled from January 19 to 23.

A Pioneering Mission for Global Partnerships

This visit marks a significant first in the state's history, coinciding with the celebration of 25 years of Jharkhand's statehood. The state government has clarified that the primary objective is to attract foreign direct investment and gather insights for long-term, sustainable development. Following the conclave in Davos, the delegation will proceed to the United Kingdom for further engagement.

The state's Information and Public Relations Department stated that this engagement reflects Jharkhand's serious intent to position itself on global platforms as it embarks on the next phase of its development journey. To streamline the investment process, a dedicated portal, www.jharkhandatdavos.co.in, has been launched to invite online applications for investments and partnerships.

"Growth in Harmony with Nature": Jharkhand's Core Theme

Jharkhand's participation is anchored in the theme "Growth in Harmony with Nature", which aligns with the WEF's 2026 focus on sustainable growth and economic transformation. The state plans to highlight its development model that seeks a balance between economic progress, ecological responsibility, and social inclusion, leveraging its rich natural resources and indigenous heritage.

At the summit, the delegation will actively participate in state-led sessions, structured dialogues, and interactions at the India Pavilion. Discussions will center on investment promotion, responsible resource governance, sustainable industrial development, critical minerals, and energy transition.

UK Leg: Academic and Diaspora Engagement

The subsequent UK visit will focus on deepening the India-UK economic partnership through investment outreach, policy collaboration, and academic engagements. A key highlight will be Chief Minister Hemant Soren delivering a special lecture at the renowned Blavatnik School of Government, University of Oxford, followed by an interactive Q&A session.

The government's statement added that discussions in the UK will explore avenues for knowledge exchange, innovation-led collaboration, and partnerships in education and skilling, aiming to strengthen long-term cooperation between Jharkhand and the United Kingdom.
