Kottayam: AICC general secretary K C Venugopal on Monday criticized the participation of three vice-chancellors from Kerala in a lecture meeting held as part of RSS centenary celebrations.
Venugopal's Strong Remarks
Those who embrace an RSS mindset — betraying India’s freedom struggle and sacrificing secular values — are not even remotely qualified to lead great educational institutions, he said. It would be best for the three to resign and move from governor’s protection into the shelter of RSS chief, he added.
The vice-chancellors, who attended the event where RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat spoke, are a blot on enlightened Kerala, he said. Venugopal said all three should immediately shed their hypocritical academic garb, don the RSS uniform, take the short staff, sing the RSS anthem at shakhas and live out the rest of their days there.
Qualifications for University Leadership
“Standing before Bhagwat in a submissive posture is not what makes one qualified to lead universities. They must remember that the qualification is a strong academic tradition, a secular outlook, democratic conviction and loyalty to the Constitution. This nation won't let a culture that plays according to RSS be promoted or grow,” he said.
Venugopal said the country carries within it constitutional values that must be protected at any cost — not the blood of sham patriots who inherit the British legacy of division.
