Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma held a crucial review meeting on Monday with top officials of the Indradhanush Gas Grid Limited (IGGL) to assess the advancement of the ambitious Tripura-Mizoram natural gas pipeline project. The meeting, conducted at the Chief Minister's Office in Aizawl, focused on evaluating completed work and addressing implementation hurdles.
Project Review and Key Discussions
During the session, Chief Minister Lalduhoma took detailed stock of the work accomplished so far on this significant infrastructure initiative. He engaged in substantive discussions with IGGL Chief Executive Officer Subrata Das and his accompanying team regarding the various challenges currently impacting the project's timeline and execution. The direct dialogue between the state's leadership and the implementing agency underscores the project's high priority for the Mizoram government.
Pipeline Route and Terminal Details
Officials from IGGL provided a comprehensive update on the pipeline's trajectory. The infrastructure originates from the Panisagar Receiving Terminal in Tripura. From there, it travels through several key locations, including Kanhmun, Zawlnuam, Kawrthah, Tuidam, and Darlak, before arriving near Mamit in Mizoram.
The final leg of the pipeline will extend from Mamit towards Lengte, culminating at the proposed Sihhmui Receiving Terminal. This terminal is poised to become a critical hub for distributing natural gas within the state.
Benefits for Aizawl Residents
A major outcome of this project will be the provision of household gas connections to residents within Aizawl city. The supply for these domestic connections will be managed and distributed from the Sihhmui Receiving Terminal by the Tripura Natural Gas Corporation Limited (TNGCL). This development is expected to significantly enhance the quality of life for urban households, offering a cleaner and more reliable cooking fuel alternative.
The progress of the Tripura-Mizoram gas pipeline is being closely monitored, as it represents a vital step towards improving energy security and infrastructure connectivity in the northeastern region of India.
