February 2027 Deadline Set for Atal Setu-Mumbai-Pune Expressway Connector
A firm completion target of February 2027 has been fixed for the 7.35 km connector linking Atal Setu to the Mumbai-Pune Expressway. Work is being fast-tracked to create a seamless, signal-free travel corridor that promises to significantly reduce commute times between the two cities.
Strategic 7.35 km Link
The connector spans 7.35 km, bridging a critical gap between Atal Setu and the Mumbai-Pune Expressway. This stretch forms an essential part of the Mumbai 3.0 growth corridor, designed to enhance connectivity and support regional development.
Two Key Stretches
The project includes two major components: a 4.6 km Chirle elevated corridor and a 2.75 km stretch from Palaspe to the Expressway. Together, they ensure continuous connectivity across major junctions, eliminating traffic signals and bottlenecks.
Construction Progress: Over 50% Complete
Construction has crossed the halfway mark, with 55% of the work completed. Execution is progressing across multiple locations simultaneously to meet the February 2027 deadline. Key milestones include:
- 143 out of 176 foundations completed
- Piers erected at 141 locations
- 88 pier caps finished
- 653 out of 830 precast girders launched
On-Ground Work Underway
Work on slip roads and service road widening at Palaspe is ongoing, alongside parallel construction activities across different stretches of the project. This multi-pronged approach ensures steady progress toward the deadline.
Faster Mumbai-Pune Travel
Once completed, the connector is expected to reduce travel time between Mumbai and Pune by up to 90 minutes. It will enable smooth traffic dispersal from Atal Setu and ease congestion at key junctions, providing a major boost to commuters and logistics.
