Navi Mumbai Airport Ramps Up Operations in First Summer Schedule
Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) announced on Thursday a significant expansion of its operations as part of its inaugural summer schedule. The airport, which was inaugurated on December 25 last year, is set to increase its average daily departures from 22 at launch to 78 by April. This surge in activity will result in total air traffic movements projected to reach 1,092 per week, marking a major milestone for the new aviation hub.
Enhanced Connectivity Across India
From March 29 to October 24, 2026, NMIA will be connected to 46 domestic destinations through the addition of 30 new routes. These routes span a diverse range of commercial, tourism, and religious centers, significantly boosting travel options for passengers. The summer schedule covers the period from the end of March to the end of October, with the remaining months addressed in the winter schedule, ensuring year-round service.
Key Destinations and Flight Frequencies
Among the busiest sectors, Delhi will lead with 9 daily departures, followed by Goa with 7, Bengaluru with 6, and Kochi with 5. Other important destinations include Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, Varanasi, and Indore, which will see increased flight frequencies as part of this expansion. This strategic focus on high-demand routes aims to enhance connectivity and support economic growth in these regions.
The expansion reflects NMIA's commitment to becoming a key player in India's aviation landscape, offering improved access to major cities and tourist hotspots. With this move, the airport is poised to alleviate congestion at existing facilities and provide a modern, efficient travel experience for millions of passengers annually.
