New Patna-Thawe Passenger Train Inaugurated to Enhance Connectivity for Devotees and Commuters
In a significant development for rail connectivity in Bihar, former Union Minister and Patna Sahib MP Ravi Shankar Prasad, along with senior JD(U) leader and Phulwarisharif MLA Shyam Rajak, jointly flagged off a new passenger train service between Patna Junction and Thawe on Sunday. The ceremony, held at Patna Junction, marks the introduction of a daily train aimed at facilitating travel for devotees and improving regional transport links.
Boosting Pilgrimage and Regional Connectivity
Speaking at the event, Ravi Shankar Prasad emphasized that the new passenger train service would prove to be a tremendous boon for devotees visiting the famous Thawe temple in Gopalganj district. He highlighted that the train is not only designed to serve religious travelers but also to enhance connectivity for passengers commuting between various towns along the route, thereby supporting local mobility and economic activity.
According to Danapur senior divisional commercial manager (DCM) Abhinav Siddarth, the newly introduced train will operate daily with a robust load composition of 24 coaches. This capacity ensures ample seating and accommodation for the expected influx of passengers, particularly during peak pilgrimage seasons.
Detailed Schedule and Stoppages
The train will feature multiple stoppages to cater to commuters across the region. Key stations along the route include Phulwarisharif, Patliputra Junction, Digha Bridge Halt, Dighwara, and Goldenganj, among others, before reaching its final destination at Thawe.
The operational schedule is as follows:
- The train will depart from Patna Junction at 12:10 PM and is scheduled to arrive at Thawe around 7:00 PM.
- On its return journey, it will leave Thawe at 8:05 PM and reach Patna Junction early in the morning at 3:20 AM.
This timing is strategically planned to accommodate day travelers and overnight commuters, offering flexibility for various travel needs.

The flag-off ceremony was attended by several senior railway officials, underscoring the importance of this new service. Notable attendees included Danapur ADRM Rajiv Kumar, senior DCM Abhinav Siddarth, and divisional commercial manager Abhishekh Kumar Tiwary, among others.
