Passengers Demand Humsafar Express Reroute Through Visakhapatnam for Better Connectivity
In a significant development for railway connectivity in Andhra Pradesh, passengers have formally requested authorities to reroute the newly announced Humsafar Express (17439/17440) through Visakhapatnam city. The train, scheduled to commence operations from April 13, currently plans to pass through Duvvada, bypassing Vizag, which has sparked concerns among local travelers.
Formal Request Submitted to Railway Authorities
Eswar Kanchumurthi, secretary of the Duvvada railway users' association and a member of the zonal railway users' consultative committee, has submitted a detailed letter to the Waltair divisional railway manager. In his communication, Kanchumurthi emphasized the need for the train to be routed via Visakhapatnam with a stop at Duvvada to maximize passenger benefits.
The Humsafar Express is set to run every Sunday from Tirupati and every Monday from Srikakulam Road, featuring modern LHB coaches designed for a comfortable journey. This service aims to enhance connectivity between the two regions, addressing a long-standing demand for improved rail links.
Addressing Overcrowding and Congestion Issues
Kanchumurthi highlighted a critical issue: the existing Tirumala Express between Visakhapatnam and Tirupati is already overcrowded, creating inconvenience for passengers. "There was a long-standing demand for another train on this route," he stated, underscoring the urgency of the situation.
By rerouting the Humsafar Express through Visakhapatnam, authorities could significantly reduce congestion on the current services. This move would provide a more efficient and convenient travel option for passengers, including devotees traveling to religious sites in the area.
Benefits of Rerouting Through Visakhapatnam
- Enhanced Passenger Convenience: Routing the train through Vizag would make it more accessible to a larger population, eliminating the need for travelers to commute to Duvvada.
- Reduced Overcrowding: It would alleviate pressure on the overcrowded Tirumala Express, improving overall travel comfort.
- Boost to Regional Connectivity: The reroute would better serve the connectivity needs between Tirupati and Srikakulam Road, supporting economic and social exchanges.
- Support for Devotees: With many pilgrims traveling to Tirupati, the improved service would cater to their needs, enhancing their travel experience.
As the railway authorities review this request, passengers remain hopeful for a positive outcome that prioritizes convenience and efficiency in regional rail travel.
