Patna Metro's Malahi Pakri Station Nears Operational Status
In a significant development for urban transportation in Bihar's capital, the elevated Malahi Pakri station on the Patna Metro's priority corridor is approaching completion. Officials confirm that finishing work is nearly finished, with the station now awaiting final safety clearance from the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety (CMRS) and a no-objection certificate from the fire department before becoming operational.
Modern Infrastructure and Design Features
Constructed along a 90-feet-wide road, the Malahi Pakri station features a unique ground-plus-two-floor configuration on both sides of the roadway. This design makes it the only station on the priority corridor with this specific architectural layout. The two station buildings are seamlessly connected through a foot overbridge, allowing commuters to move effortlessly across both sides of the road.
According to Patna Metro Rail Corporation Limited (PMRCL) spokesperson Archana Khushi, "The finishing work was going on for the past few days, which has now been almost completed. Equipped with modern facilities and an attractive design, the station will soon offer residents a better and faster metro ride experience."
Enhanced Passenger Amenities and Accessibility
The station has been equipped with comprehensive modern passenger facilities including:
- Multiple lifts for vertical mobility
- Escalators for convenient movement between floors
- Well-designed stairways for pedestrian access
- Entry and exit facilities on both sides of the 90-feet road
- Access points from Hanuman Nagar Road and Patliputra Stadium Road
Commuters will enter the station from the ground floor on both sides, proceed to the first floor for ticketing services (accessible via stairs, ramps, escalators, or lifts), and then ascend to the second floor where the platform has been constructed. Parking arrangements are being developed in the building located on the Patliputra Stadium side, from where commuters can cross over to the opposite building using the foot overbridge to reach the platform level.
Connectivity Improvements and Trial Runs
Once operational, the Malahi Pakri station is expected to play a crucial role in improving connectivity between the eastern and southern parts of Patna, significantly reducing travel time for daily commuters. The station is being constructed under the Blue Line of the Patna Metro and is being linked with Bhootnath station, a strategic move expected to further strengthen metro connectivity in the eastern regions of the city.
Recently, a successful trial run was conducted between Bhootnath and Malahi Pakri stations, during which the metro train's performance parameters were thoroughly tested. The trial evaluated:
- Train speed and acceleration capabilities
- Braking system efficiency and response time
- Signaling system functionality
- Overhead equipment performance
- Various safety parameters and emergency protocols
Aesthetic Enhancements and Visual Appeal
Beyond its functional aspects, the Malahi Pakri station has received special attention to aesthetic elements. The interiors have been adorned with vibrant paintings and intricate artwork featuring colorful depictions of flowers, leaves, and natural scenery. Local artists have created detailed designs to give the station a distinct visual identity that reflects Bihar's cultural heritage.
"As soon as people enter the station, they will experience colourful and creative artworks," added the PMRCL spokesperson, emphasizing how the artistic elements are designed to create a pleasant and engaging environment for commuters.
Strategic Importance for Patna's Transportation Network
The completion of Malahi Pakri station represents a significant milestone in Patna's metro expansion project. As part of the priority corridor, this station will serve as a vital transportation hub that not only improves intra-city connectivity but also sets new standards for public transportation infrastructure in the region. With its modern amenities, strategic location, and aesthetic enhancements, the station is poised to become a model for future metro developments in Bihar and neighboring states.
Officials anticipate that once all safety clearances are obtained, the station will begin operations, marking another step forward in Patna's transformation into a modern metropolitan city with efficient public transportation systems.
