Portugal's Secretary of State for Internationalization, Joao Rui Ferreira, has expressed optimism about the deepening economic ties between Portugal and India, particularly as the European Union and India near the completion of a free trade agreement (FTA). Speaking at a business forum, Ferreira emphasized the strong complementarity between the two economies, highlighting sectors such as technology, renewable energy, and pharmaceuticals as key areas for collaboration.

Ferreira noted that Portugal and India share complementary strengths that can be leveraged for mutual benefit. The EU-India FTA, which has been under negotiation for several years, is expected to be finalized soon.
