Visakhapatnam is preparing to host another significant regional summit, the World Food India Regional Summit for the southern states, scheduled for July 9 and July 10. The event will take place at the Andhra University Engineering College grounds, bringing together representatives from the fields of food processing, food technology, exports, and investment. Andhra Pradesh will serve as the host state, with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) acting as the nodal agency.
Participating States and Regions
In addition to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Puducherry, the summit will see participation from Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Karnataka. This gathering aims to create a platform to attract investments in the food processing sector, showcase cutting-edge technologies, foster industry partnerships, and expand export opportunities.
Objectives and Goals
The primary objective of the summit is to develop the food processing sector in the host state, create value-added opportunities for farmers, and encourage the growth of start-ups, according to the organizers. The event is expected to facilitate meaningful discussions and collaborations that will benefit the entire region.
Inauguration and Key Attendees
Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu will inaugurate the conference alongside Union and state ministers, as well as ministers from the participating southern states. The high-level participation underscores the importance of the summit in driving the food processing agenda forward.
Preparatory Meeting
A preliminary review meeting was held at the Collectorate in Visakhapatnam on Tuesday to ensure smooth coordination and execution of the event. The meeting involved key stakeholders and officials who discussed logistics, schedules, and other essential arrangements.
