The Indian Air Force has announced the commencement of the registration process for the Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) 02/2026, beginning on May 20, 2026. Eligible candidates can submit their applications online through the official AFCAT portal at afcat.edcil.co.in. This recruitment drive aims to fill vacancies for courses starting in July 2027, encompassing AFCAT Entry, NCC Special Entry, and GATE Score Entry.

According to the official notification, more than 300 vacancies have been announced for the Flying Branch and Ground Duty branches, which include both Technical and Non-Technical posts. This presents a significant opportunity for aspirants seeking a career in the Indian Air Force.

Eligibility Criteria

Both men and women candidates are eligible to apply for various branches. For Ground Duty Technical posts, a Bachelor of Technology (BTech) degree is required. Applicants for Non-Technical posts must hold a graduate degree in the relevant discipline. For the Flying Branch, candidates must be between 20 and 24 years of age. Applicants for Ground Duty Technical and Non-Technical branches should be between 20 and 26 years. The age limit will be calculated as of July 1, 2027. Age relaxation will be provided according to recruitment rules.

Application Fee

Candidates applying through AFCAT Entry are required to pay an application fee of Rs. 550 along with applicable GST charges. No application fee will be charged from candidates applying through NCC Special Entry or GATE Score Entry.

  3. Complete the registration process using the required details.

Selection Process

The selection process includes an online written examination, an Air Force Selection Board (AFSB) interview process, document verification, and a medical examination. The Indian Air Force has stated that the recruitment process will be conducted strictly on merit and through a fair selection system. Candidates appearing before the Air Force Selection Board for the first time may also receive travel allowance as per the conditions mentioned in the official notification.
