Rudrapur: An 18-year-old student allegedly died by suicide after failing the CBSE Class 12 examination in Udham Singh Nagar district on Wednesday night. The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community.

Details of the Incident

The deceased, identified as Dron Chaudhary, was a resident of Mahuwakheraganj. He was the only son of former municipal chairman Arvind Kumar Chaudhary. Dron was a student at Heritage School in Kashipur.

According to police, Dron checked his results online shortly after the CBSE announced the Class 12 results on Wednesday evening. He appeared deeply upset over the outcome. Later, he allegedly hanged himself in a bathroom at his residence.

Discovery and Hospitalization

His mother, Seema Chaudhary, who was in another room at the time, discovered him hanging and immediately alerted family members. He was rushed to a private hospital, where doctors declared him dead upon arrival.

Police Investigation

Circle officer (CO) Prashant Kumar, ITI police station in-charge Inspector Vikram Rathore, and Paiga outpost in-charge Jaswinder Singh reached the house and began an investigation. “Prima facie, the boy was distressed after the examination result. Further proceedings are underway,” said CO Kumar.

Police confirmed that the family did not wish to conduct a postmortem examination.

This tragic event highlights the immense pressure students face during board examinations. Authorities urge parents and educators to provide emotional support to students during result periods.
